Georgia-Swiss Free Trade Agreement to Come into Effect on May 1

The free trade agreement between Georgia and Switzerland will come into force on May 1. The information was published on the web portal of Government of Switzerland.

Switzerland has finished procedures, which was necessary for putting EFTA (European Free Trade Association) agreement into action.

According to Government of Switzerland, the agreement will activate trade relations between two countries. Preferences will refer to such products as Swiss cheese, dairy products and chocolate.

“In this way Switzerland continues its support to economic reforms in Georgia and integration of this Caucasian Republic into European and global economic structures”, the statement reads.

The document signed on June 27, 2016 has already come into force for Georgia, Norway and Iceland. According to EFTA website, on May 1 the agreement will come into force with Switzerland and Lichtenstein too.
