Businessman Lasha Papashvili plans to build a wine chateau in Kvareli and invest 6 million USD in the project implementation. The project development will be finished soon and construction works will start in September 2018, Lasha Papashvili noted.
“This is a chateau-style enterprise, not big, as we will produce only o.5 million bottles of wines a year. We make focus on premium segment and therefore, premium wines cannot be produced in huge volumes.
We will export our wines to foreign markets because of limited volumes. We will be represented in only premium restaurants. Initially we will produce only 20 000 bottles. The figure will rise to 500 000 bottles a year in 5 years. Europe and the USA are our target markets, as well as Japan.
I have been making this business for 15 years and I have comprehensively explored the global market such as France, Zealand. Wines with 30-30 000 USD prices are considered as premium wines worldwide.
Premium wine production depends on three key components: 60% – vineyards, 20% – bottling and 20% – storing.
Grapes should be picked in your own vineyards and only in this case wine will be a premium product, because quality of grapes is of crucial importance”, Lasha Papashvili said.
The businessmen owns a vineyard in Kakheti Region for many years on 45 hectares. The vineyard fully complies with international premium-class standards, he said.
Wines bottled by LLC Kvareli Marani are sold in Georgia for 3 years and the prices of white wine is 55 GEL, red wine – 65 GEL. The company bottles five wine varieties: Saperavi, Mtsvane, Rkatsiteli, Kisi and Khikhvi.
