At today’s briefing, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Dimitri Kumsishvili shared a picture of revenue growth received from department of tourism.
The pictures shows a significant growth – 5.2 percent only in the first quarter of the year coming from tourism sector.
In March, annual revenue increased by 31.3 percent ($56.3 million) from tourism and amounted $236.5 million. The income from tourism in economic growth amounted about 3.3 percent. Additionally, the revenue increased by 28.8 percent ($125.5 million) annually from tourism in January-March.
The number of visitors in January-March increased by 15.5 and amounted 1,463.6. The number of tourists by 28.2 percent. Kumsishvili added that a positive picture is regarding European Union countries tourists.
The largest European Union country tourists visited from Spain – growth 79 percent, The United Kingdom – 53 percent, Netherlands – 46 percent, Germany – 27 percent and France – 24 percent.
