Shaloshvili’s Wine Cellar company has expanded exports market in Germany and sells wines in Berlin. The company has been selling several wine varieties in Frankfurt for three years, while to Berlin wines were exports several days ago, the company founder Aleksi Shaloshvili told BM.GE.
Shaloshvili’s Wine Cellar owns 16 hectare vineyard in Kindzmarauli microzone, Kvareli. There are Saperavi, Rkatsiteli, Green grape varieties in the vineyard. In 2018 the company planted Qissi grape variety for white wines production. The company makes wine of its own grape harvest completely, that is 150 tons a year.
Shaloshvili’s Wine Cellar produces 8 wine varieties: Saperavi, Saperavi aged in barrel, Saperavi made in Qvevri, Kindzmarauli, Green, Rkatsiteli made in Qvevri, Rkatsiteli made by Kakhetian technology and Rkatsiteli aged in barrel. The company also produces Chacha, which is sold on domestic market.
The company sells 40% of wines on domestic market and exports 60% of products to exports markets, Russia and Germany.
The company also develops tourism sector. Shaloshvili’s Wine Cellar owns a hotel with 20 suites. The company has invested additional financial resources for making the hotel more comfortable and improve the infrastructure, Shaloshvili said.
“In summer season the hotel’s workload constitutes only 60%, while in winter the demand is lower. 35%-40% of tourists come from Russia”, Aleksi Shaloshvili said.
Aleksi Shaloshvili has invested 800 000 USD for the hotel and winemaking business development, including 200 000 USD as part of preferential Agro Loan project.
