Luxembourg listed Georgia as a secure country. It is noteworthy that Luxembourg is the seventh state in the EU /Schengen area after Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Bulgaria, Austria and Iceland, which Georgia recognized as a safe country.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the relevant decision of the Duchy of Luxembourg is based on human rights protection in Georgia, according to which international human rights organizations in Georgia work smoothly and people are not threatened to be persecuted based on race, religion, nationality and belonging to a certain social group or political opinion.

In 2017, Luxembourg did not satisfy any request from Georgian citizens for asylum.
