Mamuka Bakhtadze: Revenue from tourism has doubled in the last 5 years

Minister of Finance Mamuka Bakhtadze emphasized the revenue received from tourism during his presentation of the 2018 state budget.

In recent years, tourism has become one of the most important driving force in the Georgian economy and has become the key component of the current account expenditure, the revenues from tourism doubled in the last five years, with the number of international visitors in Georgia exceeding 6 million in 2016. This year, about 7 million visitors are expected. We predict that in 2017, the economy will get around 2.8 US billion dollars from this sector”- said Finance Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze.
