The Share of Turkish Airlines has Significantly Dicreased on Georgian Airbase

During the last two years Turkish Airlines’s position on the Georgian airbase has reduced and its share is almost half.

According to Galt & Taggart, Turkish Airlines maintains a leading position in the aviation market of Georgia in terms of number of passengers transferred in 9 months to 2017.

However, during the last two years company has reduced the position of the airline and its share in the Georgian aviation market has been halved, from 19.8% in 2015 to 11.2% in the nine months of 2017.

According to Galt & Taggart’s analysis, Georgian Airways’s share, which is the only local airline, is not far behind Turkish Airlines and has a market share of 9.6%.

“This is largely the result of an increase of air connections and the number of visitors coming from secondary markets. The number of visitors arriving by air transport reached 1.4 million (+ 49.0%) / 10 months in 2017 and totaled 21.5% (13.5% in 10 months of 2015). The increase in passenger flow in Georgian airports during 10 months of 2017: + 41.1% in Tbilisi (2.7 million passengers), + 58.7% y / year in Batumi (0.5 million) and + 65.6% y / In Kutaisi (0.4 million),”-according to Galt & Taggart.
