Wine Exports up 64% in January-May

According to National Wine Agency, in January-May 2017 Georgia exported 24.75 million bottles of wine to 41 countries, up 64% compared to the same period of 2016. Value of total exports made up 55.52 million USD, up 58% year on year.

“In January-May 2017 wine exports rose by 64% year on year. Revenues from wine sales have also increased. Exports markets have been also expanded thanks to tight cooperation between National Wine Agency and winemaking sector and correctly planned marketing strategy. Exports volume has increased on EU market, China, USA and traditional markets”, Giorgi Samanishvili, head of national wine agency, noted.

Exports have increased in the following countries: China – 160% (3234144), Poland – 17% (978360), the USA – 54% (148470), Belarus – 59% (416962), Ukraine – 28% (2364112), Russia – 96% (14820976), Germany- 18% (167 296), Latvia- 17% (547 946), France – 500% (89986), Israel – 253% (92310), Azerbaijan – 202% (77202) and so on.
Top five exports markets: Russia -14820976, China -3234144, Ukraine – 2364112, Kazakhstan – 1 048 195 and Poland – 978 360 bottles.

At the same time, Georgia has exported 5521594 bottles of brandy to 17 countries, up 66% year on year. Total exports marked 13.3 million USD brand, up 73% year on year.
In the reporting period, the country exported 73 586 bottles of Chacha to 16 countries, up 95% year on year. Revenues marked 205.2 thousand USD. Year on year upturn marked 47%.

Total revenues from exports of wine, brandy, chacha, wine materials and brandy spirits constituted 100.8 million USD, up 64% year on year.
