Kakheti Region has started vintage preparations.
The Minister of Agriculture has held a preparatory meeting with entrepreneurs and noted that both Government and private sector are ready for conducting the vintage in an organized way.
The head of National Wine Agency says that Georgian wine exports has increased and the field does not need state subsidies any more.
“We expect to pick huge harvest this year. We expect winemakers to process 140-150 thousand tons of grapes”, Samanishvili said.
As reported, in 2017 Government will not subsidize top quality grapes. Winemaking companies will receive 35 Tetri compensation if they pay at least 70 Tetri for a kilogram of Rkatsiteli and Kakhetian Green grapes for production of brandy spirits and concentrated grapes syrup.
At the same time, based on special importance of protected places of origin, Government will keep subsidizing Aleksandrouli and Mujuretuli grapes in Racha-Lechkhumi Region – 2 GEL for a kilogram.
