It’s been one year since Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti Governor’s Office, Zugdidi Municipality and USAID Zrda have been working together to support a variety of tourism development activities and to enhance economic benefits from tourism for local communities and businesses. 

Festival Anaklioba is viewed as a platform for businesses, cultural and entertaining activities to engage and benefit local communities and key business actors aimed at maximizing tourism’s contribution to socio-economic growth, job creation and income generation opportunities for local communities and households located in close proximity to the Administrative Boundary Lines (ABL) with the occupied territory of Abkhazia. 

Festival will accommodate up to 50 businesses that fit into resort area concept: food and beverage companies; souvenir and handicraft producers; arts and photo studios; tour-operators and transportation companies willing to offer their products and services to many local and international visitors coming to the region during an internationally recognized Georgia Electronic Music Festival, GEM Fest. Now into its third year, GEM Fest 2017 becomes a month-long event expected to attract around 100,000 local and international visitors during July 14 – August 14, 2017. 

Festival will gather representatives of diplomatic missions and international organizations; line ministries and agencies; members of parliament; tourism associations; private sector companies; financial institutions, local government, communities and media.
