Georgian clay pot Kvevri to be installed in the UN office yard

In light of the 70th anniversary of the United Nations Organization, Georgian clay pot called Kvevri is planned to be installed in front of the UN office in Geneva, Switzerland. As reported, the decision is also linked to the fact that Georgia’s traditional winemaking method is named the UNESCO intangible cultural heritage. 

The clay pot as well as the plaque with corresponding information will be installed in the inner yard of


the UN Geneva Office on March 1, 2016 and the official ceremony will be held, where the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia as well as the Director of UN office will address the guests. Besides, a documentary about winemaking in Georgian will be shown and wine tasting will be carried out.

Kvevri will be installed in front of United Nations Geneva office permanently. It was produced in the village of Makatubani the name of Georgia is written on it in two languages, Georgian and English.
