Number of Foreign Visitors to Protected Areas Increase

In the first quarter of 2018,  the number of visitors to protected areas of Georgia increased by 39% compared to the previous year and amounted to 55,490.

56% are Georgians, while 44% are foreigners. The number of Georgian visitors has increased by 16% and the number of foreign visitors by 88%.

Most of the international visitors are from Germany, Israel, the United Arab Emirates, India and Russia.

The most visited areas of the first three months 2018 are:

• Tbilisi National Park
• Prometheus Cave
• Kazbegi National Park
• Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park
• Sataplia

The number of visitors doubled in Machakhela, Kintrishi and Javakheti National Parks.

The number of visitors increased significantly at Mtirala and Tbilisi National Parks, Martvili Canyon and Sataplia.
