World Bank Offers Financial and Technical Assistance to Georgia

The World Bank (WB) offers financial and technical assistance to Georgia to overcome outcomes of the recent conflagration in Borjomi Gorge, WB regional director Mercy Tembon noted after her meeting with Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili in Borjomi.

“I would like to express support to Georgia on behalf of World Bank, especially to the population in Borjomi Gorge. Immediate reaction and involvement by Government of Georgia, firefighters and friendly nations should be stressed.

World Bank is ready to provide comprehensive support, first of all, to evaluate losses. Environment specialists will arrive to work on these issues. We will also provide financial-technical and other types of assistance”, the WB regional representative noted. 

WB has developed a special program for environment and woodlands protection, she pointed out.

“We are ready to assist Georgia in crisis period and in post-crisis period in terms of financial and technical issues”, Mercy Tembon noted.
