Adjara to Pick 50-60 thousand tons of Citrus in 2018
12 October, 2018

According to the 2018 forecast indicators, about 50-60 thousand tons of citrus will be picked in Adjara Region. The citrus picking process will start in mid-November in Adjara Region and the processing plants will launch operation on November 25, representatives of Ministry of Agriculture of Adjara Region told BM.GE.

The government will subsidize nonstandard mandarin by 10 Tetri per kilogram, the Ministry said.

This year about 30 processing plants will buy nonstandard mandarin from farmers and their total output exceeds 30 000 tons, the Ministry representatives noted.

As to the impact that marmorated stink bug makes on the citrus, the Ministry representatives noted that treatment works are being continued, but the real damage will be calculated after the picking season enters active phase.
