British online newspaper The Independent has named Georgia's Black Sea city of Batumi among the top 10 summer vacation destinations around the world.
The city was highlighted in the publication’s article “10 inspirational travel ideas for modern jet setters”, which was published on Friday and urged travellers to spend the summer season in the coastline destination.
“A genuine beauty, Batumi – Georgia’s second city on the sumptuous coastline of the Black Sea – is welcoming ever more smart travellers”, the selection said.
It also described the city by highlighting its location at the crossroads of “cultures, tastes, adventures and emotions”, and noted its “mediaeval bridges, ancient cultural artefacts, sparkling lakes and unspoiled hospitable villages that appear frozen in time”.
Hospitality and sports venues, cultural monuments and locations significant for history enthusiasts were also noted in the profile for the Georgian city.
