Construction of Enguri HPP Attractions to Launch in 2018

Construction works of attractions on Enguri HPP will start in 2018,  according to Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti governor Levan Shonia.

According to him, the project “Enguri HPP world-class attraction” is unique and there is no similar attractions in Europe.

“Enguri hydroelectric zone will be a serious tourist destination not only for the locals but for the tourists as well,” said the governor.

According to the existing conception, the world-class attraction – Enguri HPP’s tourism infrastructure comprises tunnels, ropeways, scientific and discovery center, open concert space, naval infrastructure, the highest elevator in the world at 280m and a few attractions that contain extreme components. The development concept also discusses the use of the dam for various installation-imaginary activities.

According to preliminary estimates, the Enguri tourist zone will be the most profitable tourist destination in the region, which is expected to serve up to 400 thousand tourists annually.
