City Hall is starting with a new, independent, overground metro project from 2019, with the support of the central government. The Mayor of Tbilisi, Kakha Kaladze talked about the presentation of the first stage of the implementation of the Prime Minister’s initiative – Green Policy Action Plan.

According to Kakha Kaladze, about eight new metro stations will be constructed. The overground metro will run from Samgori to Lilo.

“With the support and support of the central government, we have decided to implement the project, which will start at the end of 2019 – this is a new top metro construction from Samgori to Lilo. Samgori Airport – Airport – Samgori direction. I am sure that this is one of the most important projects in which about eight new metro stations will be built and 90 million dollars will be spent. Up to 30 million dollars is the cost of subway carriages. The rest is meant for infrastructure development, “said Tbilisi Mayor.

According to him, this project is important in terms of metro serving more than 200,000 people. Also, the project of the City Hall and the construction of the above-ground metro will improve the ecological situation in Tbilisi.
