Thousands of participants, including diplomatic corps, non-governmental and business sector in Georgia, will gather on Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi on September 25 to take part in a marathon promoting healthy lifestyle, the Georgian National Tourism Administration said on Friday.
The event will include a half marathon as well as a 10-kilometre run and children’s sections involving a 500-metre distance run for those aged between 6-11 and 1.2-kilometre competition for participants between 11-15.
The GNTA said the number of marathon participants would increase to 3,000 this year due to “great public interest”, adding the number would contribute to promotion of healthy lifestyle and development of tourism in the country.
A member of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races, the Tbilisi event is receiving registrations through its official website.
