Wizz Air stations third jet at western Kutaisi airport, resumes flights to European cities
05 June, 2023

The Hungarian budget airline Wizz Air has stationed its third passenger jet at western Georgia's Kutaisi International Airport on Friday and resumed direct flights from the location to five European cities, the United Airports of Georgia has said.

The airline will take passengers between the city and Frankfurt, Hamburg, Brussels, Madrid and Poznań.

UAG Director Irakli Karkashadze said talks were also underway to add new destinations and increase flight frequency on existing routes.

He noted flights being now available to 27 destinations from the Airport meant the number of available destinations had fully recovered from the pre-pandemic year of 2019.

In addition, this year will be a historic year because we are expecting more than a million passengers at Kutaisi International Airport, which means that [the facility] will set a new word in the Georgian airline market”, Karkashadze said.

Flights to all five destinations will be carried out twice a week, while the frequency of connections will also be increased by one flight each to Paris, Milan, Prague and Memmingen.
