Georgia to Build Its Longest Tunnel

Government of Georgia plans to launch implementation of a large-scale project – Natakhtari-Larsi highway, Irakli Karseladze, Road Department Head told BM.GE.

The project calls for constructing a 9-km motorway tunnel, which will have not analogue in Georgia. Road Department will announce tender in the near future.

“We are developing the North direction – construction of Natakhtari-Larsi section. The project also calls for building bypass roads. This is Kvesheti-Koti 9-kilometer tunnel project, which has no analogue in Georgia. This is the most optimal road. Intentional company was involved in designing works and we will announce tender in the near future.

If we analyze the northern direction – Natakhtari new road, Pasanauri bypass road, Kvesheti-Kobi, tunnel and Stepantsminda bypass road and Larsi section, the project value will hit 1.340 billion GEL”, Irakli Karseladze noted.
