Georgian and Ukrainian Citizens Will Travel with ID Cards Between Countries
30 August, 2018

“Citizens of Georgia and Ukraine will travel back and forth only with their electronic identification cards (ID)” stated Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia at the press briefing held prior to the Executive Government Meeting.

In the opinion of the Head of the Government of Georgia, this initiative will facilitate the development of tourism and will also further deepen the economic cooperation between the two countries.

“It is essential for us to find and embrace new potential in tourism to fully absorb the geographic advantage of Georgia. Hence, we have made a decision on the grounds of a mutual interaction with our friendly nation to enable our citizens to travel between Georgia and Ukraine only with their E-IDs. It is a very significant step made towards further strengthening and solidifying our bilateral relations. It will help us in the development of tourism and advancement of economic cooperation” concluded the Prime Minister of Georgia.

Head of the Government of Georgia noted that similar approach to be applied to other countries is currently being considered.
