Rehabilitation of tea plantations in Tkibuli will be implemented within state program. The state co-financing covers 35 000 GEL, while private business spends 15 000 GEL.
According “Georgian Tea” Manager Levan Urotadze, the entrepreneur is obliged to arrange the production of modern standards in the 3 years period, at which at least 40 000 USD will be spent. The company plans to produce up to 20 tonnes and realize it on local, as well as European market. Average cost of tea is 30-40 GEL, highest quality exceeds 100 GEL,-Urotadze noted.
“Tkibuli Mountain Tea Ltd” Ltd has been leased with 19 hectares of tea plantation for a 25-year period. Hectare for a symbolic price of 50 GEL. “This is a very low price because the base value of the agricultural land is 400-700 GEL, as the company is participating in the state program, it has state privileges,” said the Program Manager.
