Passenger traffic in western Kutaisi Airport up 11% on pre-pandemic figure

​​Passenger flow in western Georgia's Kutaisi International Airport increased by 11 percent in July compared to the pre-pandemic figure in 2019, with the number of flights also rising by 24 percent, the United Airports of Georgia said on Friday.

In the reported period, the airport served 93,919 passengers, while in 2019 the figure stood at 84,728. A total of 330 flights were served by the airport in July this year, compared to 267 flights in the same period of 2019.  

Tamar Archuadze, Director of the United Airports of Georgia, called the last month “historically busiest” for the airport, pointing out “even more positive expectations.”  

Currently, four airlines operate in 28 directions in 17 countries at Kutaisi International Airport, the United Airports of Georgia noted.  

Additionally, the company yesterday announced Hungarian budget airline Wizz Air had resumed direct flights from the Kutaisi International Airport to the French capital Paris and Estonia's capital city Tallinn after returning the second aircraft based at the airport. It also increased the flight frequencies on 10 existing directions.
