Hungarian budget airline Wizz Air has resumed direct flights from the Kutaisi International Airport in western Georgia to the French capital Paris on Thursday, the United Airports of Georgia announced.
With a total of 154 passengers departing from Kutaisi to Paris earlier today, Wizz Air performed its first resumed direct regular flight and at this stage will perform Kutaisi-Paris-Kutaisi flights once a week.
The airline returned the second aircraft based at Kutaisi International Airport and resumed flights to Estonia and France on August 1, which allowed the increase in flight frequencies to existing destinations, as well as the creation of additional jobs, the United Airports of Georgia noted.
It also said flight frequencies had increased to various European cities, including Athens, Berlin, Barcelona, Riga, Dortmund, Memmingen, Milan, Prague, Thessaloniki and Wroclaw.
A total of 255,310 passengers were served by the airline in the first six months of the year at Kutaisi International Airport, which made Wizz Air the leader in the Georgian air market in the number of transported passengers, the organisation said.
