In 2017, tourists visited the protected areas from 97 countries of the world, with the largest number of visitors from Germany, Poland, Israel, Ukraine and Russia.
According to the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture, the number of visitors increased by 203% from the United Arab Emirates, 64% from India, 63% from Latvia, 48% from Lithuania and Russia. For the first time, Georgia’s protected areas were visited by people from Lebanon, Libya, Tajikistan, Yemen, Tunisia, South Sudan and Nepal.
Number of visitors at protected areas of Georgia increased by 30% to 957 397 in comparison with the same period last year.
