1.147 Million GEL to Spend on Rehabilitation of Queen Darejans Palace
28 October, 2020

Tbilisi Development Fund completed the rehabilitation works of Queen Darejan’s Palace within the frameworks of the project “New Tiflis”.

“I’m glad that this space has been completely renovated and we have Queen Darejan’s Palace in the center of the city, on the historic site, which will be able to receive guests from tomorrow.”, noted Kakha Kaladze.

The area was developed within the framework of the project. The upper and lower courtyards were paved with natural stone slabs, as well as drainage channels were arranged. The lawns of the yard and palace terraces were landscaped by various trees and plants. The irrigation system has also been installed.

Erekle’s bath was restored. The building was cleared of sediment accumulated over the years from soil and weeds. The damaged building has undergone structural reinforcement (by strengthening the foundation and floor slab). The architectural appearance of the bath was also renewed.

In the deep incision in Darejan’s Palace which was made to strengthen the foundation and drainage system, archeological remains, including fragments of a fence have been unearthed. The remains were cleaned and preserved by archeologists.

The total price of the investment was 1,147,000 GEL, which was carried out by the company Ikorta 2007.
