TAV Georgia, the company operating Tbilisi and Batumi airports in the capital and the Black Sea city, on Friday said passenger traffic had increased at both venues compared to 2021.

Tbilisi airport served 332,999 passengers in October, marking a 67 percent increase year-on-year and a 17 percent increase on the pre-pandemic figure from 2019, the company said.

In the same month, the Batumi airport served 52,536 passengers, 17 percent more than in the corresponding period in 2021. Passenger traffic through the facility recovered by 11 percent compared to pre-Covid numbers, TAV Georgia said.

In related data published by the Georgian national tourism administration on Thursday, the number of international traveller visits to Georgia in October recovered from the pre-pandemic year figures by 63.7 percent.

The statistics also showed last month Georgia hosted 498,477 international travellers, a 125.9 percent year-on-year increase. 

Over the same month, 344,595 international tourist type visits were recorded, registering an 82.6 percent increase compared to the same month of 2021 and a 78.5 percent recovery from 2019. 

Throughout the first 10 months of 2022 Georgia hosted 4,391,082 international travellers (+188.5% y/y and 54.8% recovery) and 3,048,728 tourists (+137.9% y/y and 68.8% recovery), the GNTA also said.
