As of 10 o’clock of October 10, in Racha-Lechkhumi Region, 115 tons of grapes have been picked (Mujuretuli and Aleksandrouli) and sold. Revenues of farmers exceeded 736 thousand GEL. The vintage coordination board opened in Ambrolauri on October 9.
Taking into account special importance of indications of origin, under government’s decision, state subsidy on 1 kilogram of Aleksandrouli and Mujuretuli is 2 GEL, while winemaking companies pay 5 GEL to farmers for the same grape varieties. As a result, total price hits 7 GEL per kilogram of Mujuretuli and Aleksandrouli grapes.
At this stage, six reception centers are operating in Racha-Lechkhumi Region – 3 ones in Ambrolauri and others in the villages of Chrebalo, Khvanchkara and Bugeuli.
A total of 12 winemaking companies are participating in grapes picking process in Racha Region. The coordination center has registered 25 winemaking companies, including 6 local ones. For the purpose of safeguarding accuracy of varieties, ampelography experts have been also involved in the vintage. According to preliminary report, this year the Region will process 700-800 tons of Mujuretuli and Aleksandrouli grapes.
The vintage continues in Kakheti Region too. As of 10 o’clock of October 10, about 113.5 thousand tons of grapes have been processed in Kakheti Region. Revenues of winegrowers have reached 132mln GEL.
