The renewed medical-balneological resort “Akhtala” will receive the first guest in 2023.
As Giorgi Utiashvili, the head of the resort, told Business Partner, despite the coronavirus, the plans have not changed, therefore, the rehabilitation works of the resort will start in November this year.
According to Utiashvili, as well as the tourism sector in general, the coronavirus hit “Akhtala”. “The main part of the tourists were foreigners, in addition, due to the epidemic situation in the country, the activity of local tourists has more or less decreased,” – said Utiashvili.
The state-owned unique balneological resort “Akhtala” was sold at an electronic auction in June 2018 for 3.76 million GEL. The current owner of the resort is Global Victorყ Georgia Ltd., which was registered in Georgia in March 2019. It is 100% owned by Global Victory Investments Limited, registered in the United Arab Emirates, and the director is Irakli Khuchua, who is a citizen of Georgia and Russia according to the register.
“Akhtala” is the only mud treatment resort in Georgia. Akhtala mud is used to treat diseases of the musculoskeletal, peripheral nervous system, gynecological, dermatological, urological and other diseases.
