Road Infrastructure Projects to Hit 4.5 billion GEL in 2018

In 2018-2020, projects of 4.5 billion GEL will be implemented for road infrastructure development, the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure noted at the event dedicated to the Day of Road Builder.

Zurab Alavidze congratulated the road builders on the day of profession and discussed the current challenges and achievements in the road development sector. At the meeting the Minister stressed the necessity of fulfilling the space development plan with focus on road infrastructure development, the Minister said.

“The day of road builder was established 50 years ago and this day is very important for professionals working in the road construction sector. Road builders work day and night to build high-standard modern road infrastructure”, he said.

Zurab Alavidze also made focus on projects to be implemented in 2018 and pointed out that the next year will be full of large-scale road infrastructure works.

“From the projects to be implemented in 2018 I would name Rikoti Pass project that calls for constructing a 50 kilometer section with 90 bridges and 60 tunnels. Therefore, this project is of special importance for us”, he added.
