One of Europe’s most successful food delivery startups, Wolt, launches in Tbilisi today. The Apple-awarded service is the first of its kind in Georgia: it offers customers a platform for discovering and getting premium food delivered to their door.

“I don’t think there’s a place on earth that values great food as much as Georgians do” says Natalia Khizanishvili. “It’s very exciting to bring an app to a market where people care so much about food. We want to revolutionise how people experience food in Tbilisi”.

As the user opens the iPhone or Android app or goes to Wolt.com, they see a list of popular nearby restaurants as well as individual dishes and special offers based on personalised recommendations.

Wolt aims to partner with restaurants that are of top quality and loved by locals. Trendy new concepts and popular spots like Strada, Pipes Burger, Mexico, Tabla and Salobie Bia are all in from the get-go. Wolt is starting with 26 restaurants that are local favourites and new restaurants will be added on a daily basis.

Wolt delivers the food with bicycles, scooters and cars. The average delivery will take 30–45 minutes, including food preparation time. Meals are delivered in heating bags keeping them warm. The delivery fee is 2,5 GEL for orders less than 1,5 km and for orders more than 1,5 km there is a 0,25 GEL distance fee per every 500 meters in straight line distance. Wolt is starting with a delivery area in downtown Tbilisi and planning expand to the whole Tbilisi soon.

The Georgia launch widens Wolt’s presence in Europe: having started in Finland, and expanded to Sweden, Estonia, Denmark, Lithuania, Latvia, Norway and soon in Hungary and Czechia, the app currently has more than 800,000 registered users and partners with more than 1 700 restaurants and 2 000 couriers.
