Experienced, amateur hikers to explore Georgia"s mountainous Svaneti region within adventure project
29 June, 2022

Experienced and amateur hikers have been invited to explore northern Georgia’s mountainous region of Svaneti and test their hiking skills within an adventure project this August, the Georgian National Tourism Administration said on Tuesday.

Supported by the national body as well as the European Union, Sweden and Austria, the Highlander Adventure project will bring together dozens of foreign and local hikers and give them an opportunity to explore the villages of Becho, Zhamushi, Adishi and Ushguli between August 25-27.

The project allows adventure tourism lovers to learn more about Georgia and test their hiking abilities. This is an additional opportunity for tourism companies to diversify their products and offer them to the tourism market”, Ekaterine Kolbaia, the Head of the Internal Tourism Stimulation Division of the GNTA, said.

Founded in 2017 in Croatia by veteran event organiser Igor Mlinarevic as a series of long-distance hikes, the Highlander project is receiving the financial support of the EU, Sweden and Austria under the Greta project.

Organisers of the Svaneti leg of the project are receiving registrations on the official website:
