Georgia in CNNs spotlight: "picturesque" winter getaway
21 December, 2021

CNN has published an article about Georgia's 'picturesque winters and extended festive period' in the framework of the Georgian National Tourism Administration's promotional campaign.

The article describes Georgia's holiday traditions and explores the country's winter resorts, as well as the 'must-see' capital of Tbilisi.

With arguably some of the best Christmas lights in the world, Georgia’s historic capital, Tbilisi, is a must-see during the festive period. The lights transform the city and stay illuminated until at least mid-January – ideal for bringing color to the darkest and coldest months of a European winter, they wrote.

The feature notes that Christmas in Georgia is celebrated on January 7, as the Georgian Orthodox Church follows the Julian calendar.

The article points out that Georgia's winter resorts are 'fast expanding' and new resorts keep 'popping up.'

With a plethora of snowsports also on offer in the country’s many mountain resorts, Georgia is the perfect place to head for an exciting winter getaway, they added.

The Georgian Tourism Administration has promoted the country in various other international media outlets, including National Geographic, Expedia and Vogue.
