Georgian body features in UN World Tourism Organisations World Forum on Gastronomy Tourism
The Georgian National Tourism Administration is featuring in the eighth edition of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation’s World Forum on Gastronomy Tourism, an event focusing on fostering rural development, building economic resilience and preserving cultural heritage.
Hosted in Donostia-San Sebastian, Spain and supported by the Basque Culinary Centre, the Forum involves panel sessions and presentations with the participation of international experts, technical visits to gastronomy tourism facilities and discussions on the relationship between agriculture and tourism, gastronomic routes and other issues, the GNTA said on Thursday.
Maia Omiadze, the Head of the GNTA, highlighted Georgia’s “great potential” to gain a place in the world as “one of the leading countries” of gastronomic and tourist products and noted the Administration would be introduced to the Basque culture and how Spain came to be the “most popular” travel destination in the world.
Georgian tourism body representatives will have the opportunity to meet the leaders of the tourism organisations of different countries and share their experiences.
Visitors at the Forum will have the chance to be introduced to Georgian tourist products, culinary and wine tourism destinations, with the event scheduled to end on Saturday.
