UNWTO: Georgia Takes 4th Place among Fastest Growing Tourist Destinations

World Tourism Organization UNWTO has published – Global Tourism Review of 2018. The report covers the dynamics of tourism in different countries of the world.

In 2017, compared to 2016, the number of tourist visits increased by 6.8%, the highest since 2009. In Africa, the number of tourists is 9%, while in Europe it is 8%.

Almost half of the world’s tourists arrived in Europe – 671 million, while Africa hosted 63 million visitors.

Worldwide tourism expenditures have risen by 5%, 40% of which comes to Europe.

According to the report, the largest share of expenses comes from Chinese tourists, who spent more than $ 258 billion on travel. In the second place, according to the cost of American tourists, they spent more than 135 billion annually on the trip.

According to the report, the number of tourists with the highest number of fast growing is as follows:

Egypt – an increase of 55%

Togo – an increase of 46%

Vietnam – an increase of 29%

Georgia – increase by 27.9%

Palestine – increase by 25%

In 2017, most tourists visited France in the world – 89.9 million; Spain is second with 81.8 million tourists, and third comes the US with 75 million tourists.
