24 October, 2018

Work on general plan of Racha spatial arrangement has been completed, said Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti governor Archil Japaridze.

As Japaridze said to Commersant, the plan includes  the development of Shaori, Shovi, Utseri, Nikortsminda, Chrebalo as well as the Buba resort.

Japaridze notes that the presentation of the document will be held in local municipality in two weeks, after which it will be discussed and approved by  the City Council. In the governor’s words, later the spatial arrangement plan will be introduced to investors to promote their interest in the Racha region.

According to the plan, 3 and 4 -star hotels of international brand, as well as a recreational complex will be built in the region. The project also envisages  development of the Shaori lake tourism potential, a boat club arrangement, hiking paths, pedestrians and bicycle roads, children’s playgrounds, attraction rides and other tourist infrastructure in the resort zones.

Japaridze notes that additional details will be known after public presentation. “Geographiki” (Ambrolauri District) and LLC “Art Studio Project” (Oni District) have developed the Spatial Arrangement Document commissioned by the Ministry of Economy.

Former Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili spoke about the necessity of developing new resorts in the country in March of 2016. He said that the government worked on the development of 4-season resorts. Today Racha governor explains that this course is going on and it will take about four years to turn Racha into a European standard resort.
