Georgian supra included in UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List

Traditional Georgian supra (feast table) has been included in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List. This news of high importance has been announced by Nikoloz Antadze, the head of National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia.

As reported, this status has been given to the Georgian supra in order to defend Georgian historical-cultural legacy by law. The new act went into force from March 22. It is 

noteworthy, that besides Georgian supra 36 more objects have been included in the Intangible Cultural Heritage List by UNESCO so far. Among them are Georgian polyphonic songs, Georgian kvevri (clay vessel used for making wine), Deda Ena (Children's primer, Mother Language), National dance Perkhuli, Georgian wrestling, Svan hat (traditional woolen hat from Saventi region),the technology of preparing Churchkhela (Georgian candy made from grape juice and nuts), etc.
