Rare Northern Lights dazzle Georgia residents overnight
07 November, 2023

A glimpse of the Northern Lights was visible to residents in Georgia at midnight between Sunday and Monday, prompting amateur and professional photographers to post pictures of the rare purple sky from different highland regions of the country.

The appearance came as part of Aurora Borealis sightings across Europe’s south during the hours.

Usually seen in the northern regions of Europe and Canada, the lights are produced when electrons from space flow through the magnetic field of the Earth.

The resulting effects appear most frequently in shades of green and red.
