Tbilisi TV tower illuminated in Israeli flag colours as in solidarity following terrorist attacks
10 October, 2023

The hilltop TV tower overlooking Georgia’s capital Tbilisi is on Sunday illuminated with the national colours of Israel in a symbolic show of solidarity with the country following the terrorist attack yesterday.

Tbilisi City Hall condemned the “brutal violence” on civilians and extended its condolences to the families of the deceased, and to the whole of Israel.

The Embassy of Israel in Georgia responded to the lighting of the Tbilisi tower and thanked Tbilisi and Georgia “for standing with us”.

The Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas took responsibility for the attack on Israel, which killed at least 600 and injured more than 2,000, the local media reported.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that “Israel is at war” following an early attack from Gaza.

Georgian officials, including the country’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, President Salome Zourabichvili and Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili yesterday condemned the attacks on Israel.
