Georgia hosted 912,041 international visitors in August, with the figure marking a 195.5 increase compared to the same period of 2021, latest data from the Georgian National Tourism Administration shows.

The GNTA also noted statistics authorities had recorded a 67.1 percent recovery in the monthly figure compared to the pre-pandemic figures in 2019.

The number included 582,995 tourist visits - 135.8 percent and 77.4 percent higher compared to 2021 and 2019 respectively.

A total of 3,256,370 international travelers visited Georgia between January-August this year, 51.5 percent higher compared to the pre-pandemic period.

Medea Janiashvili, the Acting Head of the GNTA, said the recent tourism recovery was the result of the Administration’s campaigns in the target markets, including its presentations of tourism products on the international market, hosting of “internationally influential” media outlets and media bloggers, and participation in international tourist exhibitions.
