10-year strategy to make Georgia leading year-round ecotourism destination in the Caucasus
15 October, 2021

Georgia has created a new, 10-year ecotourism strategy which sets a goal of making the country the leading, year-round ecotourism destination in the Caucasus region by 2030 based on its rich living culture and nature as well as high-quality hospitality services.

Georgian Economy Minister Natia Turnava and Minister of Environment Levan Davitashvili already signed the ecotourism strategy earlier today.

The goal of the ecotourism strategy is to develop authentic, high quality, year-round touristic products and services, to include local communities in providing ecotourism services, to define ecotourism target markets and foster high environmental awareness of the visitors.

The 10-year strategy was prepared by the Georgian National Tourism Administration with the support of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), the Agency for Protected Areas of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture (APA) and the National Forestry Agency (NFA), as well as the Georgian Ecotourism Association.
