For first time in history of Georgia, Gudauri ski resort to host Snowboarding Junior World Championship
11 March, 2024

For the first time in the history of Georgia, Gudauri ski resort will host the Snowboarding Junior World Championship, which will be held on April 6-7 under the auspices of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation.

According to Mariam Kvrivishvili, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, it is important that the existing mountain infrastructure in Gudauri, both this year and in the future, will host internationally recognized mountain sports competitions, such as the world cups and championships.

The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development stressed that Georgia had won the right to host the championship in 2024 after successfully holding the stage of the World Cup in the snowboard cross discipline in Gudauri.

"It was noted that Gudauri was once again selected to hold international level competitions, as it fully meets all standards both in terms of infrastructure and organization. It is notable that the Snowboarding Junior World Championship was held for the first time in 1997 in Italy. Then the hosts of the event were Spain, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Sweden and other leading mountain and ski countries of the world", - the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia declared.
