Sales Surge for Georgian Chocolate Pitchers - A Local Twist on Kinder Surprise in the Works
04 December, 2023

Georgia's chocolate industry is witnessing a delightful surge, particularly with the rising popularity of its domestically produced chocolate pitchers. These unique confections have become a hit among both locals and tourists, who often purchase them as gifts to take abroad. Consequently, the sales of these chocolate pitchers have been doubling year after year.

Erekle Loladze, co-founder of Mouth melters, the company behind these chocolate pitchers, shared with BusinessPartner that their initiative to blend the 8,000-year history of Georgian wine with chocolate has been a resounding success. They now aim to expand this innovative concept.

"At our facility, we craft these chocolate pitchers using natural, Belgian ingredients. We have the capacity to produce 1,500 pitchers daily and ramp up to 24-hour production during peak seasons. Our production process is fully automated, utilizing state-of-the-art equipment. Given the growing demand, we're considering the addition of new machinery," Loladze explained.

Looking ahead, Loladze revealed plans for next year to introduce a novel product combining chocolate pitchers with Georgian toys, akin to the popular Kinder Surprise. The company is also exploring the export potential of their current lineup.

Presently, the chocolate workshop in the village of Misaktsieli produces six varieties of chocolate pitchers. This startup, born during the pandemic, specializes in classic dark and milk chocolates with various fillings, selling exclusively in the local market, particularly in wine shops and airports.
