6 May Park

In 1991 the construction of the first public garden began in Batumi under the supervision of a Prussian gardener Ressler. The arrangement of the garden was continued by a French gardener D’Alphonse. In 1888 the city of Batumi was visited by the Russian Emperor Alexander III. Fascinated by the garden, he planted several trees in the park together with his family members. Eventually the park was named as “Alexander’s Garden”. However, the name was changed periodically. Today it is called “6 May Park”. The park combines the following educational-recreational units: dolphinarium, aquarium and zoological corner, children’s attractions. You can also tell the time by a sundial, enjoy the sight of the decorative “Stone Fountain” and have a boat trip.

Dolphinarium

A visiting card of Batumi – Dolphinarium – is located in 6 May Park. Viewers become participants of new shows each season. Even the most demanding visitors always leave the dolphinarium with unforgettable impressions and the wish to come back again soon.

Aquarium

The history of aquarium counts 46 years. It represents about 100 species of the Black Sea and Georgian fresh water inhabitants and decorative fishes. The majority of them are bred and reproduced on the spot. At present a new concept of the aquarium as well as a future project are under development.

Zoological Corner

On the place of the present zoological corner the so called “Arena” used to function from 1898. It was periodically changed though until the thorough reconstruction in 2006-2007. At present the summer and winter dwellings of the inhabitants are divided into three sectors. Rare primates, birds, marsupials and hoofed animals reside in our enclosures.

Attractions are for pre-school and under 12 children.
