Tsaishi is famous with hyper-thermal mineral waters therapeutic qualities of which were described as far back as by Vakhushti Bagrationi. He mentions Tsaishi as the place of wonderful location and time-honored therapeutic water springs. On the place of one of the springs, in the depth of 5-6 meters, a water pool was discovered which was allegedly used in the age before Christ and was constructed with cut stone. Today 18 Tsaishi mineral springs have been studied. Tsaishi hypo-thermal mineral water (24-26 degrees) has unique contents. It contains big amount of silicon acid. For such mineral water anti-toxic, anti-septic properties are typical, it arranges metabolism process, improves the state of bone and cartilage and also skin tissues, lowers the risk of developing atherosclerosis. On the spot of water outlet, in 2-3 m depth, ground layer has the color of tar. This is mud belonging to so called spring mud used for various therapeutic procedures. On the water outlets area there are 25-m high, 500-year old nettle trees. Presumably, our ancestors have knowingly planted these trees to make springs easily accessible. Despite of this, curing waters were ‘discovered’ anew in the beginning of the XX century. However, special popularity Tsaishi gained in 1956, after discovery of hyper-thermal (82,5 degrees) water. Part of hot water is used today for heating of greenhouses and apartments, but most of it is lost in the ground.

1. The main sight in downtown Zugdidi, a center of Zugdidi municipality, is Museum of History and Architecture situated in
the palace of Samegrelo rulers – Dadiani family surrounded by picturesque park. The Dadiani clan began its construction in the first half of XVIII century. David Dadiani assigned his spouse, Ekaterine Chavchavadze, the duty of taking care for the park. To adorn the park, she invited Italian specialist Joseph Babini (this is the man who took care of the park construction in Gordi). Babini planned the park in the French symmetrical style and created the most beautiful landscapes. In 1855 the Turks have burned roughly the whole of Zugdidi and cut the park vegetation. To revive the park Ekaterine invited again Italian specialists, brothers Zaberletti who rebuilt the park and also found their ultimate domicile in Zugdidi.
