Route: Tbilisi- Dedoplistskaro – Signaghi- Kvareli-Telavi-Tusheti- Tbilisi

Timetable

Day 1- Arrival at the Tbilisi International Airport, where will meet you our company’s representative. Check in at the hotel – Old Tbilisi District (Anchiskhati,Sioni,Abanotubani) Narikala and overnight in Tbilisi.

Tbilisi – the capital of Georgia, the country’s cultural center, traditional and modern architecture, with plenty of admirable views.Sightseeing of the city includes: the churches, museums, sulfur baths, narrow streets with wooden balconies, European and ancient part of the city, which attracts a lot of tourists

Day 2- Breakfast at a hotel- Davit gareji, Dedoplistskaro, Eagle range,Khornabuji, Elia mountain, Sighnaghi- overnight in Signaghi.

  • Davit Gareji is one of the most outstanding religious – cultural centers of feudal age Georgia. It is monastery complex carved in the cave. The semi-desert mountain monastery still admires viewers with its construction of arts and paintings of high artistic value. The monastery was founded in the VI century; it was founded by one of the 13 Assyrian Fathers – St. David Garejeli. In 1616 it was an Easter night king of Persian Shah Abbas tortured 6000 monks.

  • Artsivi (Eagle) Gorge Natural Monument represents a unique complex consisting of two sites. The first one is a limestone rock canyon, while the other is an adjacent forested area, where Khornabuji fortress was built (V c).The canyon with a picturesque landscape is a home to several birds of prey (eagle, vulture etc.). Looking at the hanging cliffs from the rocky slopes of the gorge, it is possible to observe nests of eagles and other rare/extinct plants, which cannot be seen anywhere else in Georgia.

  • Khornabuji castle (it is also called the Tamar fortress) is urban-type settlement. It is one of the oldest and most beautiful city-castle. The fortress is built on a cliff from where you can see the beautiful views. Archaeological studies confirm the existence of the settlement in this area. In 1837,Russian poet Mikhail Lermontov  had seen and paint Khornabuji fortress. Also saw this castle French writer Alexandre Dumas while he had been in Georgia. Citadel, which is located at the high mountain, is still making a big impression on the visitors/

  • Elia-At the south of city Dedoplistskaro is erected bimodal mountain. Both of its peaks are white limestone massive, which are dominated at the Dedoplistskaro Plateau and attracts a lot of visitors

Day 3 – Breakfast at the hotel, seeing the sightseeing of Signaghi, Bodbe monastery, Kvareli, Nekresi,Gremi,Kvareli lake, overnight in Kvareli

  • St Nino’s Bodbe Monastery – Monastery occupies a distinguished place in the spiritual life. Here lies Illuminator, Apostles St. Nino. St. Nino the source of grace and healing.Here was functioned church school from XVII century, where were taught theological and scientific subjects. There was also one of the richest library in Georgia.

  • Nekresi – monastery complex is located in Kakheti, near the village Shilda. It was founded in BC II-I centuries by King Pharnajom.

  • Gremi – people settled in the late Bronze Age in this area, which was trading, economic and cultural center of Kakheti. In 1466 years it became capital of Kakheti Kingdom

Day 4– Breakfast at the hotel, Ikalto, Alaverdi, overnight in Omalo.

  • Ikalto – Ikalto Monastery was founded by the Assyrian monk Zenon in VI century. According to the legend, Arseni Beri (XI-XII centuries) founded an academy. There are manuscripts those are ancient ages.In the territory of monastery is saved 3 church and different buildings, also the ruins of the academy and the refectory.

  • Alaverdi Monastery – “Alaverdi” is Turkish-Arabic origin word that means “God-given” . The current Alaverdi Monastery was built in XI century in the first quarter and was formed as the important monastery center . The temple is one of the largest church in Georgia (41,7×26,4, a height of 50 meters).

Day 5 -Breakfast at the hotel, Omalo,Keselo castle, Shenako,Diklo, overnight in Dartlo.

  • Old Omalo , Keselo Castle was built in XVIII Earlier the population of Omalo had been settled near this castle, then, gradually they moved down near the recent Omalo. Village Omalo (Old Omalo) is joined in the list of national significance immovable cultural monuments.

  • Shenako is located on the southern slope of the great Caucasus and is situated on 2080m above sea level. In summer a few family lives in the village. Around the village there are grasslands and unique variety of pine woodlands. In the centre of Shenako there is a church built in XIX century.

  • Diklo is located near Omalo in Tusheti. A few families live there in summer. There you will have a great view of a rocky pine forest, where some endangered animals – Ounce and Wild Goat are dwelling .There are mineral spas near Diklo which is often visited by Tourists. In the heart of Diklo there is a place of worship, where women aren’t allowed to enter. Near to the village Diklo, there is a Diklo fortress.

Day 6– Breakfast at the hotel, Dartlo,Parsma,Girevi,Kvavlo,Chontio, overnight in Girevi

  • Dartlo has a big history. It is situated at 2000 m. above the sea level. Traffic is allowed only by horse and air service.Village Dartlo is one of the most remarkable places in Tusheti owing to its architecture and overall landscape. An automobile road goes from Village Dartlo up to Village Dano, from where it leads to Village The tower with a pyramid shaped roof overlooks the trail. The village is built on the rocky slopes of the mountain. Sections of it are connected with each other with paths built with stones and rock-cut pathways.

  • Parsma – Kvavlo – Chontio –Girevi – they are the oldest villages with different architecture – pyramidal-roofed towers. The districts are connected with stone pathways. You can see thee floored houses which are distinguished by an abundance of balconies. Villages are built on the rock ledge. If you follow from Kvavlo to Didkhevi you will meet the valley of the Caucasus Mountains breathtaking view.

Day 7– breakfast at the hotel, Old and New Shuamta, travel to Tbilisi and rest at the hotel.

  • New Shuamta monastery was founded in XVI century by the Queen Tinatini.  After construction of the temple she became a nun. She is buried in the garden of monastery. Inside fence of the church are:  houses, sheds and other buildings. Shuamta Monastery is the shelter of nuns. Their request on the territory of monastery is silent and properly dressed people.
