Description

Route:  Tbilisi –  Mtskheta – Borjomi – Abastumani – Adigeni -Akhaltsikhe – Aspindza – Vardzia –  Akhalkalaki – Tabatskhuri -Borjomi – Tbilisi.

Timetable of the tour

Day 1– Arrival at the Tbilisi International Airport, where will meet you our company’s representative. Check in at the hotel and overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 2 – Breakfast at the hotel – the Old Tbilisi District (Anchiskhati, Sioni, Abanotubani) – Trinity – Mtskheta -Svetitskhoveli- Jvari Monastery – Uplisstikhe – Green monastery – Borjomi- Abastumani’s churches- (St. Giorgi’s and St. Mariami’s Church, St. Alexandre Neveli’s church ) – Astrophysical Observatory (In a good weather can observation) – Abastumani Sulfur baths – Overnight at the hotel in Abastumani.

  • Tbilisi – the capital of Georgia, the country’s cultural center, traditional and modern architecture, with plenty of admirable views. Sightseeing of the city includes: the churches, museums, Sulfur baths, narrow streets with wooden balconies, European and ancient part of the city, which attracts a lot of tourists.

  • Svetitskhoveli is one of the most important historical building in Georgia. It was the center of Christianity for centuries. In the Cathedral is buried the robe of Christ and St Ellia’s mantle. The temple was built by the architect Arsakisdze in the XI century

  • Jvari monastery it is a symbol of Mtsketa and a symbol of the whole country too.

    It stands high on a hill and overlooks the valley. From here you can see Mtsketa and the beautiful monuments around it. Also see how two rivers Mtkvari and Aragvi cross each other.

  • Uplistsikhe – is caved city in the rock and one of the most ancient settlements in Caucasus.in the sources was firstly mentioned in the VII century. There are protected archeological and architectural monuments, which are the oldest and belong of the Bronze Age.

  • Chikhartvi St.Giorgi Monastery-that is so called the most beautiful place in Borjomi Valley. People affectionately called Green monastery. To look out, there is not a single tree in the same color green. Also are the stones, which of them are built the temple – all green, but some dark and some –light green. The temple belongs of IX-X centuries.

  • Resort Abastumani – it belongs of dry resorts. The slopes are covered with coniferous forest, where is dominated by pine trees and the blossoming period is really indispensable treatment for lung sick person. It is well – recognized that Abastumani thermal waters have healing properties.

Day 3 – Breakfast at the hotel – Zarzma – Chule – Ude – Tamari’s castle – Tamar’s Bridge – Sapara- Samtskhe-Javakheti’s  National Museum – Rabati Museum complex –  Ormotsa tower – Overnight in Vardzia.

  • Zarzmi’s Monastery – It is Georgian monument. Only three parts of the church are stayed: domed church, belfry and several chapel.(some are destroyed).There are different opinions about establishing the monastery. Some thinks it was built VIII century and others in IX century.

  • Chule Monastery – is St. Giorgi’s domed temple which was built in XIV century. The church is in the group of Zarzma ana Sapara monastery’s architecture.

  • Sapari Monastery– a medieval Georgian monastery. It was established no later than X century. The church is located in narrow valley covered with the forest on the high mountain. It is one of the most outstanding monasteries of Georgian architecture. Monastery overlooks the dry valley.

  • Rabati Fortress – locates in Alhaltsikhe. It holds 7 hectares of the area and presents the city in the city. In the historical part of fortress are presented: a Museum, a Mosque and Medrese(Muslim educational institution), also there are Orthodox Church(built in IX century), the Citadel and the Turkish baths. In the modern part of the fortress are functioning: a hotel, a restaurant, a cafe, a wine shop, a souvenir shop and Marriage house too.Rabati fortress was founded in the IX century.

Day 4 – Breakfast at hotel – Vardzia – Vani’s Kvabebi- the ancient village Chachkari ( near the Vardzia introducing the Meskhetian dishes) – Tmogvi castle – Khertvisi castle – Overnight in Vardzia.

  • Vardzia – is caved monastery in the rock. XII-XIII century Georgian cultural monument. Vardzia monastery is cut off at Erusheti mountain slope. It is wonderful natural environment. Since the ancient times, inhabited side was located of the main road that Georgia was connected to the front Asia. Vardzia has a lot of visitors not only from Georgia, but also – in other countries as well.

  • Vani’s Kvabebi – is desert monastery. It was built in VIII-XVI centuries, and belongs of Georgian architectural and historical cultural monument in Javakheti.

  • Tmogvi Castle – is historical city-castle in Georgia, which is built on a high rocky mountain.In the sources was first mentioned in the X century.

  • Khertvisi Castle – is difficult but well-preserved building. It belongs of X-XIX centuries. The castle consists of two main parts: a citadel and a fence. It situates at the confluence of two rivers. Since 2007, the UNESCO world heritage protects the Khertvisi Castle.

Day 5 – Breakfast at hotel – Baraleti – Tabatskuri’s Red Church – Tabatskura Lake (camping, fishing, bonfire) – Overnight on Tabatskura Lake in tents.

  • Red Church – dated in IX century. It is called Red church with its color of stones. The type of church is single- nave .Here you can enjoy with Caucasus wonderful views as well as feel the the alpine zone nature at the same time. This place can surprise anyone in any time of year.

  • Tabatskhuri – Lake in Samtskhe-Javakheti region, formed as a result of volcanic eruptions. It is quite deep and reaches 40 meters. Also stand out with cold water; it is almost impossible to swim in it. The on peninsular of the lake is built the village. Near the village is made plantations of pine forest, where you can rest. Also in the middle of the most beautiful lake is an island where you can get by boat.

Day 6 – Breakfast in nature –  Borjomi – Borjomi Park – Timotesubani – return back and overnight in Tbilisi.

  • Timotesubani – Timotesubani Monastery, also called the Cathedral of the Holy Virgin, is a cross-cupola church built in 12-13th Centuries. Monastery is one of most important monument. It’s unique with its painting that’s why it’s protected by the World Save Fond. The interior of the church is decorated with best examples of Georgian mural painting.

Day 7– Breakfast at the hotel – Check out – Free time – transfer to the airport. Departure from Tbilisi;
