Lithuania has officially legalised Sakartvelo as the proper name of Georgia.

On December 21, state documents began using Sakartvelo, instead of the former Gruzija.

In the Georgian language, the official name of Lithuania has been Lietuva instead of Litva since May 24, 2018.

On May 3, 2018 Lithuania introduced Sakartvelo as the second non-official name of Georgia.

Lithuania made the decision to celebrate 100 years since Georgian independence.
